EMMIHS Simulation

In preparation for the Moon Gallery mission 2022 to bring a miniature gallery of one hundred artifacts to the Moon, the gallery prototype became a part of Moon analog & simulation campaign EMMIHS (EuroMoonMars* IMA** HI-SEAS***) in Hawaii December 2019 – January 2020. The EMMIHS missions are a series of analog astronaut simulations at the HI-SEAS simulation habitat, aimed at researching the challenges of extra-terrestrial habitation. They are initiated and supported by the European Space Agency, ILWEG and IMA.
EuroMoonMars* (EMM/ILEWG) – EuroMoonMars is a program for research, professional training and education, field simulation campaigns in MoonMars analogue environments using selected instruments. EuroMoonMars started with a Robotic Test Bench (ExoGeoLab) and a Mobile Laboratory Habitat (ExoHab) at ESTEC. They can be used to validate concepts and external instruments from partner institutes.
IMA** – The International MoonBase Alliance (IMA) is an association comprised of leading scientists, educators, and entrepreneurs from space agencies and industries worldwide to advance the development and implementation of an international base on the Moon.
HI-SEAS*** – Launched in 2012, the Hawai‘i Space Exploration Analog and Simulation (HI-SEAS) is a University of Hawai‘i at Manoa research program funded by NASA, designed to operate long-duration planetary surface missions to investigate crew composition and cohesion. The HI-SEAS habitat is a semi-portable, low-impact structure with a useable volume of approximately 13,000 cubic feet, a usable floor space of close to 1,200 square feet, and small sleeping quarters for a crew of six.
