The first permanent
museum on the Moon

Moon Gallery Mission

The Moon Gallery aims to become the first permanent, physical art gallery on the Moon. While planting the seeds of a future interplanetary culture on the Moon, we are working right here on Earth to bridge the gap between space science and art through meetings, workshops, art-science education, exhibitions, and conferences.

Our collection of one cubic centimetre artifacts works to cultivate a more human, cultural base that includes essential components to provoke thought and creativity. This collection of concepts are lessons from our collective experience on Earth that will help evolve human culture on the Moon and beyond.

Christopher Cokinos

A nonfiction writer and professor emeritus of English.
Moon Gallery artist since 2024.

I have traveled by open boat 600 miles north of the Arctic Circle in search of the sites of three giant iron meteorites and once spent weeks living in a tent on the Antarctic plateau to document the work of scientists in that icy place. I’ve suited up as an analogue astronaut during a stint at the Mars Desert Research Station and allowed myself to be stationed in habitats at Biosphere 2 in order to write poetry.
