JAB2021: MOON GALLERY
2-10 July 2021 on the island of Hvar, Croatia
Jelsa Art Biennial, an art festival on the island of Hvar, brings contemporary art closer to broad audiences and carries the message of social responsibility. The event celebrates Saturn’s oppositions with Venus, Mars, and the Sun; an astronomical phenomenon that will take place in the night sky during the biennial. The festival will present the reflections of local and international artists on the metaphorical interpretations of the Solar System’s sixth planet.
As part of JAB2021, the curators of the Moon Gallery project, Anna Sitnikova and Elizaveta Glukhova, and the originator of the idea, prof. Bernard Foing, will hold a lecture series for the public and participate as mentors of the residency program “Space Habitat Residency” for young artists. During the art residency, the artists, in cooperation with mentors, will produce new collaborative works and presentations at biennial locations, and ideas elaborated through the residency will be included in a selection of works to be sent to the Moon as part of the Moon Gallery project.
