Ready for our next event? On the 30th of June at 7 pm we will host our first Ukrainian Movie Night, sponsored by De Kaapse Brouwers! Why? We are fundraising for our important new initiative, an artist residency specifically for Ukrainian artists who’ve recently relocated to the Netherlands seeking asylum. To execute this initiative, we have embarked on several fundraising initiatives, including a recurring movie night. At each event we will watch one famous movie from the Ukraine, accompanied by drinks and snacks at the bar. If you want to know more about our residency, keep reading!
The ticket price functions as your donation, but you may give more if you wish as all proceeds of the movie night, including food & drinks purchased, will go towards the funding of the residency. Let’s have a great evening!
This week we will watch ‘Man With a Movie Camera’, a movie about, well… a man with a movie camera. This silent documentary film has made history by breaking all the conventions of filmmaking, provoking us to question what cinema actually is while simultaneously showing the virtues and imperfections of life in three Soviet cities. The camera man intended to turn cinema into something universal, able to speak to people in any country regardless of their background.
